Reiki in North Devon
The origin of Reiki, meaning energy life force, goes back thousands of years to Tibet although other cultures were aware of an energy/life force that allows healing.
Reiki comes from the Japanese words meaning universal life energy and in Japan, in the 19th century, it was discovered by Mikao Usui who through his teachings encouraged Reiki to spread into the Western world.
Reiki is a spiritual, vibrational healing practice that promotes balance throughout the whole body.
There is no physical manipulation instead energy is allowed to flow through the practitioner to the client.
The client can experience a deep sense of relaxation and calmness and any parts that are affected by stress and illness is charged with positive energy.
As part of the series of “Magical Energy” Karen talks more about Reiki in this podcast.
Is Reiki religious?

How will I feel during and after a Reiki session?
Everyone’s session is very different, but clients report a sense of deep relaxation, lightness and tingling.
“I really appreciate the benefits of receiving Reiki via distant healing from Karen. I find the sessions deeply relaxing and they definitely help to ease my anxieties during this time of lockdown. I tend to choose a session late afternoon so that I can benefit from a deep sleep later on. The written feedback from Karen afterwards is insightful and helpful too. I would recommend this alternative to hands on healing, especially in times of self-distancing.”
Are there any after effects?
After a session it is important to drink lots of water and to take things easy as well as avoiding alcohol and heavy meals. Sometimes there may be adverse reactions of a runny nose, weepiness and headaches. These should not persist after 48 hours and it is an indication that the body is re-establishing its natural balance.
How much does it cost?
- 45 – 60 minute session costs £45
- Distance healing costs £40

Chakra clearing and balancing
Chakra energies play an important role in our health and vitality. When we are in good health our chakras spin and flow easily, when we are unwell – mentally, emotionally, spiritually, our energy flow becomes stagnant and blocked.
Chakras are part of the system that transports energy to our bodies and energy field (aura), plus store energy that contains information about our life’s journey. There are seven layers to each chakra corresponding to your experiences, memories, trauma and connections.
Chakra cleansing releases and pulls out stagnant, stale or blocked energy just like a detox diet. When they are clear, then fresh energy can be brought in to balance and stabilise each chakra, which in turn promotes good health. A gentle way to clear past worries and events. Changing energy is quicker than changing your thoughts!
Session, face to face, cost £45 (includes energy testing), allow at least 60 minutes
