When I teach master level Reiki I often say that we move from doing Reiki into being Reiki.  When we add something new into our lives, we concentrate on getting things right, our awareness is focused on what we are doing.  When we master that new skill or way of thinking it becomes absorbed into being a part of us. As we change or add to who we are, we show up in the world as a “newer” being.

We may see this as our energy or vibration being raised and this in turn has an effect on others around us.  The model Betaris Box demonstrates that my attitude ie how I am showing up, influences my behaviour which in turn affects another’s attitude.  That attitude affects their behaviour which has an impact upon my attitude and consequently my behaviour and so it continues.

If I face the day ahead in a bad mood, for whatever reason, unfortunately others can be negatively impacted by my behaviour. In turn, whoever they have contact with could bear the consequence and so it ripples out.  Therefore, my bad mood could affect more than just me!

Conversely, the same is true from presenting myself in a different light or in a different state of being that is engaging, compassionate, calm, understanding, light-hearted and so.  People around me will feel different being in my company.

Have you ever come away from a meeting or time with someone and feel uplifted? Their energy, raised vibration, has had an impact on your own energy.

We rarely consider how we want to be seen to others, we are on automatic pilot and with the stresses and strains of everyday life we can show up being stressed and negative. However, we can decide how we want to be seen or how we want others to find us that day.  This is not being false, but consciously choosing to raise our own vibration to support our own wellbeing being and consequently and unintentionally affecting those with whom we come into contact – the person at the supermarket till, the quick chat with your neighbour, the dog walker, your friend and your family.

As author and doctor of Happiness Andy Cope mentions “we are human BEINGS, not human doings”.  How would others describe you or how would you like to be remembered?

I know that when I am in good health or feeling happy with life, I don’t need to work hard to be the best version of me.  It’s when I feel under stress or I’m having to do things I’m not looking forward to that I have to be more conscious of how I want to be seen to others, to bring to the fore the more compassionate, authentic and genuine aspects of myself – and this is my choice.  Coming away from a situation in which I hope, because I have shown up feeling ok or in good humour, that my behaviour and attitude has rippled out and continues to do so for the rest of the day to many other people.
